How Often Should You Really Touch Up Your Hair Colour?
The honest answer depends on your hair's growth rate and how much contrast there is with your natural colour, not a fixed calendar rule.

The common advice — every 4-6 weeks — is a reasonable default, but it's not universal. High-contrast root touch-ups (dark natural hair with light colour) show regrowth fastest and often need attention every 3-4 weeks to stay even. Lower-contrast colour, balayage and highlights have more room before the line looks obvious, and can often stretch to 8-10 weeks between visits. Hair that's had a chemical treatment like keratin or rebonding also needs its colour schedule planned around those appointments, since combining chemical services too close together can over-process hair. The simplest way to know it's time: if the regrowth line is visible in normal light, that's the colour asking for a touch-up, not a product fix.
