Sundip Rai founded Bellissimo Sorelle in Punggol in November 2023 with a vision to create a welcoming boutique beauty salon centred on personalised care, transparent service and a memorable customer experience.
Biography
From the Navy to Punggol's neighbourhood salon
Sundip Rai is the founder of Bellissimo Sorelle, a boutique unisex beauty salon established in Punggol in November 2023. He is not a hairstylist, beautician or aesthetician by training; his role is that of a founder and operator who built the business, its systems and its standards, while the hair, skin and grooming treatments themselves are carried out by Bellissimo Sorelle's trained specialists.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Sundip spent more than 13 years serving in the Republic of Singapore Navy. Military service gave him an early grounding in discipline, teamwork under pressure, and the importance of clear processes—lessons that stayed with him well beyond his time in uniform. After leaving the Navy, he moved into civilian leadership roles across operations, procurement and supply-chain management, where he learned how to run cost-conscious, process-driven organisations at a larger scale.
That combination of military discipline and operational leadership shaped the way Sundip approaches business today: methodically, with an emphasis on accountability, clear standard operating procedures, and attention to the details that customers notice even when they can't quite name them—cleanliness, punctuality, and a sense that someone is genuinely paying attention.
The Origin Story
Why he founded Bellissimo Sorelle
Bellissimo Sorelle was created with a simple belief: a beauty appointment should feel personal, comfortable and genuinely worthwhile, not clinical or rushed. Sundip had noticed, as a customer himself and through conversations with people in his own neighbourhood, how often a good treatment was let down by a disorganised booking process, an impersonal welcome, or a lack of clarity about pricing and what to expect. He wanted to build a salon in Punggol that closed those gaps.
The name "Bellissimo Sorelle"—Italian for "most beautiful sisters"—reflects the warmth and closeness Sundip wanted customers to feel, as though they were being looked after by family rather than processed through an appointment slot. From the outset, the salon was designed to serve both men and women under one roof, offering a broad range of hair, skin and grooming services so that a household could bring everyone to the same trusted address.
Rather than opening a salon in the abstract, Sundip set out to build a genuinely neighbourhood business—one that would earn repeat visits from people living and working around Punggol through consistency and care, rather than one-off marketing pushes.

Working alongside the salon's specialists on service standards and operations, he pays attention to feedback and looks for the small frictions that, left unaddressed, can quietly erode trust—a late confirmation message, an unclear price, a rushed handover between one appointment and the next.
Since opening, Bellissimo Sorelle has grown through the support of its customers and the dedication of its team. Sundip's ongoing focus is on building a trusted local salon known for personalised attention, transparent pricing, convenient booking and consistent service, rather than chasing rapid expansion at the expense of quality.
The Entrepreneurial Path
Learning the business from the ground up
Sundip's approach to entrepreneurship is grounded in execution, continuous learning and personal ownership rather than delegating everything from day one. While building Bellissimo Sorelle, he taught himself website development, search engine optimisation, digital advertising and analytics and conversion tracking, so that the salon could compete for attention online and he could understand, in concrete terms, how customers were finding and choosing the business.
That hands-on approach carried through to the salon's operations as well: setting up booking workflows, working through pricing and scheduling logic, and building the feedback loops needed to spot problems early. He sees this as an ongoing process rather than a finished project—Bellissimo Sorelle's systems and standards continue to be refined as the business learns more about what its customers value.

In November 2024, Sundip also founded Adira Limousines, a premium chauffeur and limousine service in Singapore. Although the two businesses operate in different industries, both share the same founder-led principles: professionalism, reliability, transparent service and close attention to the customer journey.
